Last week we received a request with a picture of Elizabeth attached. Our first paying commission for Painted Pixels Paintography! Hooray! We’ve been getting a lot of interest but until last week we hadn’t gotten any bites. I’m afraid as the Christmas season gets closer, though, we may get slammed with requests. I only hope if that happens we will be able to fulfill them all and not have to turn some away. So if you’re thinking about having one of your photos painted you might want to go ahead and start sending those in to be sure you’ll get yours in time.

I’m really pleased with how Elizabeth’s painting turned out. I incorporated her school colors in the background and think it looks great!

Frisk Gone Fishing

When our cat Frisk used to be a house cat he loved to bother our fish Blue. Beth caught this photo of him one day as he decided he would like to go fishing. Don’t worry he never caught the fish. As you can see, our paintography works well on your pets too. Maybe you have a photo of your pet that you would like turned into a painting to hang on your wall. It would make a great gift also.

First Dance Framed

Just recently I painted one of our wedding photos and had it printed from imagekind.com. As you can see the print turned out great! We were very pleased with the whole process. I bought the frame from Hobby Lobby and cut the matte myself, but you can have Imagekind frame the piece for you when you purchase a print. First Dance

Painted Pixels Paintography isn’t limited to children’s photos. The photo used for this digital painting was one of my favorites from our wedding day. My mom took this photo while Beth and I were dancing at our reception. This was the best day of my life. We just recently used imagekind.com to print this painting at 16″ x 20″ and love how it turned out. We plan to hang it somewhere in our living room after it’s framed and are excited to see it hanging on our wall. We will post the finished product soon, so check back.

Just a Swingin’ – Sheena

A while back Sheena, one of our nieces, spent the night with us. This is a photo I shot of her swinging in the park and thought it would make a great portrait. Isn’t she cute? The photo was taken during the fall season and the tree in the background was really bright orange and yellow. It was a beautiful day. You can see a close up of the image below and see how these paintings really look like a traditional painting. We don’t use any special filters or simple button clicks. It’s just me taking my knowledge of painting to make these photos into something unique. I actually paint over the photo in the same way I would paint a traditional painting, except in a traditional painting I have to mix the paints manually, sketch out the portrait, fill in the sketch with paint and then clean the paint brushes and pallet when the day is over. Painting of Lake Playing Soccer

This is my second digital painting – what I’ve decided to call paintography. This is my nephew Lake playing soccer. This painting is a little different than Miley’s painting as it’s a sports photo with action. I wasn’t sure how the action shot would turn out, but I love it! Lake loved it too! If you have an action shot of your child playing his or her favorite sport, it would likely make a great digital painting. Prices start at $25 for one subject, making it an affordable alternative to an oil painting. This painting can be printed as large as 16″ x 20″.

Painting of Miley on Easter Sunday

I took this photo of my niece Miley on Easter this year. She really enjoyed this Easter. She brings so much joy to our family and is a lot of fun! This is the first photo that I turned into a digital painting, and I was very pleased with the results. If you have a photo of your child that you would like turned into a digital painting (that looks like a traditional painting), please contact us. It’s a very inexpensive way to have a painting of your child. A lot of people would love to have an original oil portrait, but because of the expense they’re unable to.
